Why an AI roadmap should begin with operating priorities

A useful roadmap starts with the decisions leadership already owns, not a tool list.

Begin with a management question

Ask where performance is constrained, where decisions are slow, and where scarce expertise is consumed by low-value work.

Understand the workflow, exceptions, systems, evidence and judgement before deciding whether AI has a useful role.

Compare value, readiness, risk, complexity and time to evidence. The most exciting idea is rarely the best first move.

A roadmap must name ownership, controls, integration and behaviour change, not stop at a pilot.

Can the opportunity be explained through a business outcome, a real workflow, accountable people and observable evidence?
